Traditional Use: The leaves have been used for urinary complaints, congestion, and muscle aches and pains.

Properties: Analgesic, anesthetic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, deodorant, expectorant, immune stimulant, nervine, sedative, vulnerary

Constituents:  Leptospermone, calamene, calamanene

Benefits: Acne, arthritis, asthma, burns, candida, colds, cough, cracked skin, dandruff, eczema, fever, infections, insect bites and stings, intestinal infections, muscular pain, rheumatism, ringworm, sinus congestion, sore throats, sunburn, thrush, urinary infections, wounds. This oil may be used as an expectorant by adding it to a steam inhalation.

Of Interest: All parts of this plant have been used by the Maori people as an important part of their natural medicine. It is believed that both manuka and tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) were used by Captain Cook to make a tea drink, thus given the name Tea Tree.
