Traditional Use: Fir needle has mainly been used for respiratory complaints such as coughs and bronchitis, and as a disinfectant. Properties: Analgesic, antiseptic, antitussive, astringent, deodorant, expectorant, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic Constituents: a & b-Pinene, bornyl acetate, limonene Benefits: Arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, burns, colds, cough, cuts, flu, hemorrhoids, muscle aches and pains, rheumatism, sinusitis, sore throat, wounds. Fir needle can be added to a massage oil or cream for sore muscles. This takes advantage of the analgesic property of the oil. The same oil or cream may be rubbed on the chest to ease coughs or asthma. Blends Well With: Benzoin, cistus, lavender, lemon, marjoram, orange, pine, rosemary Of Interest: Silver fir was the first species used for the Christmas tree, but has since been replaced by Douglas and Noble firs.
